Metal Braces
Metal brackets are very strong and are suitable for most types of treatment. At first they may irritate your gums, but after a few weeks, when your cheeks get “toughened up” they are not a problem anymore. Most traditional metal braces require an o-shaped rubber band to hold the arch wire onto the bracket.
As orthodontic technology has advanced, these brackets have become smaller and less troublesome. Metal brackets tend to be less expensive than other types of brackets and many patients enjoy choosing colored rubber bands to match the season or their style.
