Self-Ligating Braces
The most significant difference with self-ligating braces is the absence of rubber bands. Self-ligating braces typically are smaller and more aesthetic than traditional braces since only a metal door is required to hold wires in place.
Each self-ligating brace uses a slide mechanism to hold the archwire, thus decreasing pressure on the teeth and reducing friction on the wire, which can decrease the treatment time by 3-6 months.
